Monitoring visit of a sanitation project in Soroca

A group of experts from the Regional Development Agency North had, at the end of the last week, a visit to Soroca. There they monitored the project "Establishing a system of integrated solid waste management in North Region." As a result of budget changes, the project was improved and the essential concept was changed.

The National Coordination Council and Regional Development has to approve this project.

The overall objective is to improve the level of environmental protection and reduce risks to public health in the target area by strengthening the integrated management of solid waste. Among the final targets of the project are the creation of sanitation services for all beneficiary villages* and sanitation service provision with equipment and technique required. The total project required a total from the National Fund for Regional Development is 29,675,500 lei. Duration of the project is scheduled for 24 months.

The applicant for the project "Establishing a system of integrated solid waste management in the North Region" is the mayor's office of Soroca. Among the priorities is to improve the environmental project and to attract tourism.

* These are the following localities in Northern Region: raion of Soroca, the city of Soroca, Zastânca village, the village of Rublenita, Volovița village, Ocolina (Villages of Ocolina and Å¢ipala), Cosauti (villages of Iojnița and Cosauti), shared parking (villages Volave and Parcari), and Old Căinarii village.
